Energy Academy

In partnership with NIPSCO and the IBEW 531, the Energy Academy will prepare you for high demand jobs in the electrical, maintenance and utility industries. You’ll work with state-of-the-art electrical and mechanical equipment in the classroom — and you’ll also have hands-on opportunities in the lab room. When you successfully complete the program, you’ll earn NCCER certifications in Electrical and Alternative Energy, giving you a head start on college and/or careers such as union electrician, line worker, technician, power plant operator, and many others.

Launched in 2013, LaPorte County CTE’s Energy Academy at the A.K. Smith Career Center was the first of its kind in the state of Indiana!
